Analysis of Lightweight Oil Containment System Sea Trials.

Abstract

The interim report contains an introductory review of the Coast Guard's high seas containment barrier design features and of the barrier development program. A major part of the barrier development program involved field testing. The procedures and instrumentation used for the field tests are described. The results from the oil containment tests in calm water and waves are presented in detail with qualitative and quantitative data on oil loss mechanisms and rates. Conclusions are presented, and the work remaining is reviewed. (Modified author abstract)
