Stress-Optical Behavior of Inorganic Glasses.

Abstract

The report briefly summarizes research concerning the stress-optical coefficients of SiO2, soda-lime Silicate, and alkali borosilicate glasses as a function of temperature from room temperature up to the annealing point of each. The relaxation time for the relaxation of birefringee in strained SiO2 glass was measured as a function of temperature up to 950C.
