Electronic Excitation in Collisions of H(+) and H With N2,

Abstract

The 200 to 500-nm radiation excited by collisions of a beam of 1.5 to 25-keV H(+) or H with N2 has been studied under thin target conditions with a viewing geometry chosen to minimize polarization effects. Transitions are assigned, emission cross sections are calculated, and transition probabilities are discussed.
