Optimal Control of Tandem Queues,

Abstract

The dissertation resolves the problem of finding the optimal dynamic operating policies for queueing systems consisting of two stations, in series, coupled by a finite intermediate storage when it is possible to vary the average service rates of the two facilities. Random service times ar assumed in each of the facilities with the current average service rate as a parameter of an exponential probability distribution governing each service time.
