Stability of Near Cylindrical Shells with Double Curvature under the Simultaneous Action of Radial Pressure and Meridional Force,

Abstract

The upper critical load for a concave near cylindrical shell is determined. The shell rests freely and external radial pressure and meridional stretching force act on it. The effect of the magnitude of the stretching load on critical pressure and deviation in the shape of shell from cylindrical are estimated. The initial stress state is described by the linear elastic theory. The solution is found by the energy method. (Author)
