Notes on the Feasibility of High Quality Mechanical Translation.
Abstract
Mechanical translation has often been criticized from the point of view of syntactic analysis. These criticisms are updated and restated within the framework of recent theoretical work in syntax. The role of semantic information is examined. Limitations are considered, and possible ways of improvement are indicated. (Author)
