UV Gas Laser Studies

Abstract

Temporal narrowing of the optical pulse in an E-beam excited high pressure xenon laser substantiates the evidence of laser oscillations in molecular xenon reported earlier. Using a hole coupled output mirror, an energy of 0.1J was measured in a calorimeter; this corresponds to a peak power of 10 MW demonstrating that a high power laser in the vacuum ultraviolet has been achieved.
