Numerical Solution of the Equations of Tide Dynamics in the World Ocean (Chislennoe Reshenie Uravnenii Dinamiki Prilivov v Mirovom Okeane),

Abstract

In the present work the tides in the World Ocean are computed only according to the outer parameters, namely, from the given distribution of tide-generating forces, the known bottom topography and the coastline configuration. Such a method has already been used; however, in contrast to these works we reject here a number of assumptions in the description of frictional forces, the use of which leads particularly to a significant overstating of the resultant value of dissipation of the tidal energy.
