Psychological Considerations in the Design of Helmet-Mounted Displays and Sights: Overview and Annotated Bibliography

Abstract

An overview of the history and the known and potential psychological problems of helmet-mounted displays is followed by an extensive annotated bibliography of relevant material arranged by topics: eye dominance, brightness disparity, helmet-mounted displays/helmet-mounted sights, retinal rivalry, and the AMD visually-coupled systems symposium (of 1972). The bibliography annotations, which vary in length from one sentence to one-half of a page, describe the contents of the articles but do not evaluate them. Most of the bibliographic entries are not listed in previously published articles on helmet- mounted displays and/or sights. (Author)
