Linear Vibration Testing of Gyroscopes.

Abstract

The report points out the need for new and improved methods for the linear vibration testing of gyroscopes. Some possible reasons for the disagreements which have long been observed between tumble, servo and linear vibration test results are postulated and analyzed. These discrepancies are related to an inadequate and incomplete gyro error model. A test procedure and analytical methods which can be used for the simultaneous determination of all drift coefficient frequency response functions are also outlined. These and other suggestions are given for consideration in the development of future linear vibration testing of precision inertial gyroscopes. (Author)
