Optimal Structural Design.

Abstract

Optimality conditions have been established for a wide range of constraints. Im many cases, these conditions could be shown to be necessary and sufficient for global optimality. Problems of multiple constraints or multi-purpose structures were considered, primarily involving beams and trusses. Optimal layout of trusses was examined for single and multiple loading conditions. Systematic design procedures were discussed for a range of problems, and a variety of illustrative examples was presented. (Author)
