Mechanisms of Organic Photoreactions.

Abstract

Studies of the mechanisms of photoreactions of organic compounds and of the curious photochemical consequences of irradiation of pure, or very concentrated samples of compounds at the extreme long wave-length edge of their absorption spectra are summarized. Three mechanistic studies are reported: (1) the photochemical rearrangement of phenyl allyl ethers, (2) development of a general method for measuring quantum yields of triplets, (3) effects of varying wave-length on the photochemistry of piperylenes.
