Failure Phenomena of Some Fiber-Reinforced Composite Strips with a Hole.

Abstract

Ten composite strips with a hole were loaded to failure under tension. Failure stresses and strains were compared with the composite ultimate strengths. The results showed that while the hole reduced the compos-ite strength, the effect on strain however depends on the properties of composite components. The strain was reduced in aluminum/boron but increased in boron/epoxy and in FRP/epoxy. (Author, modified-PL)
