Mercury Cadmium Telluride 10.6-Micron Photodiode.

Abstract

Mercury Cadmium Telluride 10.6-Micron Photodiode.Interim rept. 15 Dec 72-15 Jun 73,Koehler,T. ;DAAB07-71-C-0236ECOM0236-3*Photodiodes, *Infrared detectors, Photodetectors, Photosensitivity, Quantum efficiency, Laser beams, Carbon dioxide lasers, Infrared lasers, Cadmium tellurides*Mercury tellurides, DesignThe first six months of a program to achieve a 10.6-micrometer (Hg,Cd)Te photodiode thermoelectrically cooled module is described. The feasibility of such a module has been clearly demonstrated. A quantum efficiency of 55%, bandwidth of 156 MHz, and a saturation current of 3 mA at 146K is achieved. The program will continue for another six months during which the TE cooler-detector interface will be demonstrated. (Modified author abstract)
