Exploratory Research into Turbofan Stability Performance. Volume II.

Abstract

The low pressure-intermediate pressure (LP-IP) compression system of a turbofan engine was redesigned to improve high-speed bypass efficiency and core flow supercharging with no decrease in stability limit. Low-pressure compressor efficiency was improved 2.1% and core flow pressure ratio was increased from 3.36 to 3.53 with a resulting drop in bypass ratio from 0.80 to 0.71. (Modified author abstract)
