The Transportation of Hazardous Materials: Transport of Benzene by Tank Car.

Abstract

The research is an investigation of the problems involved in the transportation of hazardous materials with emphasis placed on the transport of benzene by railroad. Specific recommendations on the identification and labeling of the hazards associated with benzene are discussed and a risk rating model is suggested for general use in the transportation of hazardous materials. Through use of a gross hazard analysis and a fault tree analysis, the basic parameters involved in the transport of benzene are determined. (Author)
