Photochemical Degradation of Dapsone.

Abstract

The photochemical degradation of DDS (4,4'-diaminodiphenylsuflane,dapsone) has been shown to be an autocatalytic reaction that is affected by the solvent. Degradation products are tentatively identified by mass spectrometry. None of these compounds were found to be present in the tablets of DDS suspected to contain a toxic agent that might be responsible for the production of agranulocytosis. (Modified author abstract)
