Synthesis of New Antimalarial Drugs (1- and 9-Anthraceneaminoalcohols).

Abstract

The synthesis of seven anthracene aminoalcohols with one or two additional substituents is described. These compounds include three 1-aminoethanols, two 9-aminoethanols and two 9-aminopropanols, prepared from commercially-available substituted anthraquinones or from 10-chloroanthraldehydes. The synthesis of 1-aminoethanols from substituted benzanthrones was shown capable of producing compounds already available by means of less complex schemes. (Modified author abstract)
