Experimental Studies of the Neutron and Gamma Shielding Provided by Field Fortifications from a 14-Mev Neutron Source,

Abstract

The objective of this effort was to conduct an experiment to determine the attenuation of high energy (about 14-Mev) neutrons and secondary gamma photons by open and covered field fortifications (which were represented by open and covered cylindrical holes in the ground). Neutron spectrum and dose and gamma exposure were measured as a function of distance between the source and the hole and thickness of cover over the hole. (Modified author abstract)
