Atomic and Molecular Charge Transfer Processes.

Abstract

Differential scattering techniques have been used to study the resonant charge exchange in Ar2(+) and Xe2(+). Particular emphasis was given to understanding the scattering interference patterns that result when spin-orbit (J,J) coupling is dominant. In the case of Ar2(+) where the potential curves have been computed, the experimental and theoretical scattering patterns are in excellent agreement. The rainbow scattering for Ar2(+) and Xe2(+) was also measured. The corresponding potential well depths were derived from the rainbow angles. (Modified author abstract)
