Abstract

This Russian report acquaints the reader with the varieties and properties of various photographic and motion picture films, photographic plates, and photographic papers. It explains why it is advantageous to use a particular photographic film in a given situation, what pitfalls await the photographer if photographic film is used incorrectly, and how it is necessary to select photographic paper for printing from a negative in order to obtain a good print. The characteristics of modern color photographic products, including photo and movie film, are thoroughly explained. It also discusses how the exposure conditions and processing of photographic products effect the quality of the resulting color picture. Practical advice is given, cautioning the amateur photographer about mistakes in his techniques.
