Aluminum Alloys in Tractor Construction,

Abstract

Light alloys, particularly those containing aluminum, are being used as substitutes for steel, cast iron, and antifriction alloys in various branches of industry. In recent years, use of aluminum alloys has especially increased in the tractor industry. A typical list of engine parts using aluminum alloys is given in Table 2 of this report, and an analysis of the data in this table indicates the advantage of using aluminum alloys to make tractor engine pistons.
