Microwave Properties of a Calm Sea,

Abstract

The report presents calculations of the following: The dielectric properties of water as a function of the salinity and temperature of the water and the frequency of observation; the propagation characteristics of microwave radiation in water for these dielectric properties as a function of salinity, temperature, and frequency; and the brightness temperature of a calm sea, based on these dielectric properties, as a function of salinity and temperature of the water and the frequency, polarization, and angle of incidence of observation.
