Evaluation of Meriam Laminar Flow Meters for Calibration and Setup of Semi-Closed Scuba Apparatus,

Abstract

Merian Model 50 and mh10 and model 50 mj10 laminar flow elements using a three inch incline manometer indicator were evaluated under laboratory and pressure chamber conditions for possible use in set up and calibration of semi-closed SCUBA apparatus for use in Sea Lab III. Various gases and depths were tested using different flow elements and indicating fluids to determine the proper use of components for the specific applications involved. Both elements and the manometers tested using different indicating fluids were found to be highly linear and easily adaptable to use in a high pressure environment to set up and calibration of semi-closed SCUBA apparatus.
