A PROCESSING TERMINALS, *Message processing, On line systems, Time sharing, Editing, Computer programmingEditing routines, Text processingThe report describes a study conducted to support work on the design of Secure Telecommunications Terminals for the LDMX program. The study evaluates the use of interactive computer terminals for message preparation and editing. The areas of primary concern were user acceptance of interactive (on-line) preparation and editing, editing features necessary for message preparation, and cost of placing preparation function at the switching computer. A model demonstrating on-line message preparation was developed and used. The study concludes that on-line message preparation is a feasible and even desirable mode of operation. (Author)
