Abstract
OCESSING, Modular construction, Data processing equipment, Radar images, On line systems, Correlators, AlgorithmsThe development of a special purpose computing unit called the Flexible Processor designed for use in side-looking radar image processing systems is described in this two-volume report. Recent hardware developments have demonstrated on-line digital change detection, using special purpose computing logic sections which achieve an image processing speed capability in excess of one-hundred times that of large general purpose computers. This early equipment is reviewed and compared with a modular design concept based on the use of several Flexible Processors, which work together to implement the image processing algorithms. This volume contains the detailed logic description and the instruction formats.
