Interactive Program in Advanced Composites Technology: 'Program Review'. Volume I.

Abstract

The Carnegie-Mellon University team has completed the second two year program in advanced composites technology. The work reported herein included: continuing development of university-industry interaction; development of educational material including reports on manufacturing methods, Weibull statistics, and stresses due to an elliptical hole in an anistropic plate; and, advanced research into synthesis proce-dures for mechanically fastened joints and elastic fracture mechanics for laminated composite plates. The research projects demonstrate useful design capabilities, new analytic and numerical results, and experimental data. (Author-PL)
