An Analysis of Classified Film Destruction Methods Which Recover Silver.

Abstract

Classified film destruction has become a matter of interest because incineration, the only method approved by the Department of Defense for destroying classified film, is reportedly being threatened by environmental considerations. This study investigates past and current incinerator technology and alternate methods of destroying film and recovering silver. The available data indicate current incinerator technology is adequate for the present and short-range future. Since more stringent air pollution laws could eliminate future use of incinerators, this study recommends pursuit of an alternate method. (Modified author abstract)
