Virus-Induced Synthesis on Preformed Subcellular Structures,

Abstract

A study was made of the synthesis of RNA in a mitochondrial-microsome fraction extracted from chicken fibroblasts infected with the virus of Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis. In this fraction was observed the replicative complex of the virus, also the intensive synthesis of cellular and virus-specific RNA and proteins. The products of the synthesis were ribonucleoproteins with various sedimentation and density characteristics. One of the ribonucleoproteins had a sedimentation constant of 160 S and density of 1,43 g/cc, which corresponds to the parameters of the ribonucleoproteins of virions of this particular virus.
