Electronic Properties of Nitronaphthalene Solids: Luminescence and Electrical Conductivity.
Abstract
The effect of the nitro group on the electronic properties of crystalline nitronaphthalenes was studied. Its effect on the energy levels, energy dissipation, luminescence and electrical conductivity are described. The photoconductivity of 1,5-dinitronaphthalene (1,5-DNN) in particular, using a variety of electrodes, was studied in greater detail. A method is described for photoinjecting electrons into organic crystals by using high electric fields and semitransparent gold or aluminum films evaporated on quartz slides.
