Bare Base Rapid Site Synthetic Surfacing Equipment.

Abstract

The report describes tests performed to determine the operational suitability and capability of the surfacing equipment to provide a durable polyester surface capable of being used by tactical forces at a depolyed site. The suitability of fiberglass-reinforced polyester resin for use in traffic areas was also investigated. Two surfaces were laid, and as a result of observation and evaluation made during both the surfacing operations and a 90-day period afterwards, the system was considered as operationally ineffective and unsuitable.
