Immunological Changes in Case of a Single Sensitization with Heterologous Skin,

Abstract

A single sensitization of guinea pigs with heterologous human skin in a dose of 500-600 micrograms of protein has resulted in the development of parallel proceeding processes of delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) and formation of antitissue antibodies. In the early periods after the sensitization (5-7th day), the authors observed a state of delayed-type hypersensitivity which was indicated by the positive skin-test results, microscopic nature of cell response at the site of an intradermal injection of antigen, and also by the possibility of passive transfer of this state by the lymphoid cells of the sensitized animals. On the 20-90th day they were able to detect antitissue antibodies in the blood of test animals by the passive hemagglutination and passive skin anaphylaxis reactions.
