Clay Water Interactions: An Experimental Study of Interface Phenomena.

Abstract

A reconsideration of the surface structure problem is based on a re-evaluation of montmorillonite Fourier syntheses, on water structuring as revealed by recent Raman, NMR and dielectric investigations and a re-evaluation of data pertaining to swelling and b-axis changes of montmorillonites. New aspects on the adsorbed water density are considered together with questions regarding ion water interactions in kaolinite, montmorillonite, vermiculite and hectorite. (Author)
