Siberia in the 1970s--Economic Development or Frustration.

Abstract

The basic question is whether the Soviet Union will be able to economically exploit the vast resources of Siberia, east of the Yenisey River, to its fullest extent during the decade of the 1970s. Data was gathered using a literature search, both in the English and Russian languages, and to a small extent, using personal knowledge gained from discussions with knowledgeable Soviet officials in Irkutsk and Bratsk in 1965.
