A Quadrupole Mass Filter for Molecular Beam Detection.

Abstract

This report outlines the theory of the quadrupole mass filter and describes the design and construction of an instrument to analyze, in conjunction with a molecular beam sampling system, the composition of low pressure flames. The ancillary electronic equipment is also described. Some results are presented to show the resolution, sensitivity and stability of the instrument. (Modified author abstract)
