The measurement and Coding of the Military Essentiality of Navy Parts, Components, and Equipments,

Abstract

The report is an account of a limited investigation to determine the feasibility of interjecting meaningful military essentiality considerations into Navy inventory and allowance determination models. A conceptual approach for a system which would develop and exploit the kinds of information required for meaningful essentiality decisions is described and recommended. That approach involves setting supply system procurement, distribution, and issue policies to drive operational ready rates for equipments and systems toward the attainable mixes preferred by high level operational planners.
