The Flying Cusp: A Compact Pulsed Fusion System,

Abstract

A dynamic plasma compression system is proposed in which imploding liner techniques of megagauss field generation are combined with plasma containment in Cusp geometry. A one-dimensional, thin-liner model is developed in which plasma losses are included self-consistently. Scaling laws are derived for a fusion feasibility experiment based on this principle. (Author)
