Laminar Boundary Layer in Symmetry Plane of Blunt-Nosed Body,

Abstract

The report presents the prediction of the points of instability, transition and separation together with the calculation of the incompressible laminar boundary layer properties on the windward and leeward meridians of a hemispheric nosed body of revolution at angles of attack, alpha=0 degrees, 10 degrees, 15 degrees and 20 degrees using an experimental pressure distribution. The three-dimensional solution for the boundary layer equations was obtained using a finite difference method. The prediction of the instability and transition points was made utilizing semi-empirical methods over a range of Reynolds numbers. (Modified author abstract)
