Techniques for Bounding and Estimating Measures of Effectiveness,

Abstract

Within the report can be found a survey of both algebraic and statistical techniques which are useful in bounding and estimating measures of effectiveness of various forms - such as sums, products, sums of products, sums of exponentials, products of linear and exponential terms, and integer forms. These results are intended to be illustrative, rather exhaustive, of some of the types of MOE's in use and, depending on their form and the nature of the variables in their formulation, which techniques can be used to provide bounds on the MOE values. These MOE's are chosen from a spectrum of Naval warfare areas with particular emphasis placed on antisubmarine warfare. (Author)
