Simplified Lay-Out of Supersonic, Heterogeneous Ejectors.

Abstract

A generalized analysis for supersonic ejectors with heterogeneous operating media and constant area mixing, which leads to a simple diagram for determining approximate values of ejector mass and area ratio, driver-gas Mach-number and temperature, is presented. Simplifications are obtained by considering that conservation of momentum and continuity dominates the ejector process, while conservation of energy, a condition which complicates ejector calculations, is of little influence in case of a supersonic ejector and amenable to an approximate treatment. The ejector layout diagram is also modified to provide information on off-design conditions. In a separate treatment the approximate ejector analysis is used as a first step for a refined layout, which more accurately observes conservation of energy, requiring an iteration process for a solution.
