Pattern Recognition Software.

Abstract

The report describes two PDP/8E computer programs for video pattern recognition. The first, TRAIN, takes known video data that has been standardized as to position, intensity, etc., creates a standard feature vector for that data, and stores that feature vector in a pattern file. The second program, IDENTIFY, takes unknown video data, creates a feature vector for it (after standardization), and compares this feature vector with the known feature vectors. The closet match between unknown and knowns is taken to be the unknown pattern. The pattern name is then typed out on the teletypes. The assembly language programs to perform these tasks are also included. (Author)
