Preparation and Properties of One-Dimensional Metals in Dielectric Matrices.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to prepare monocrystals of several compounds possessing metallic chains which are one-dimensionally or two-dimensionally constrained and evaluate their electronic properties. Such structures have been suggested to be possible models for high temperature superconductors. One-dimensional platinum complexes, and channel complexes of iodine and polysulfur nitrides were grown. Two-dimensional intercalation complexes and polymerization of monomeric Lewis bases were prepared. The superconducting critical temperature was determined by measuring ac magnetic susceptibility as a function of temperature. (Author)
