Storability Investigations of Water. Volume 2. Annotated Bibliography

Abstract

The objective of this program is to gather data that will permit the Air Force to assess the long-term storage characteristics of water with respect to biological growth, galvanic corrosion, and changes in composition of the water, so that the feasibility of the long-term storage of water for a transpiration coolant can be determined. The investigation involves the use of four types of water: (1) oxygen-saturated, deionized, filtered water; (2) oxygen-free, deionized, filtered water; (3) innoculated oxygen-saturated, deionized, filtered water; and (4) innoculated oxygen-free, deionized, filtered water. Eleven metals and twelve nonmetals were studied.
