Giant Multipole Resonances in 197Au.

Abstract

For heavy nuclei, very few measurements of the nuclear giant multipole resonances have been conducted using inelastic electron scattering. In this work, measurements were made to identify the giant multipole resonances of 197Au. Five inelastic scattering spectra were obtained and analyzed. In each spectrum, giant multipole resonances were observed at excitation energies of 7.1, 9.1, 10.9, and 14 MeV. The strengths and multipolarities were found. (Modified author abstract)
