A Safe and Convenient Preparation of Isopropyl Methylphosphonylated Acetylcholinesterase.

Abstract

Isopropyl methylphosphonylated acetylcholinesterase is conveniently and safely prepared by the reaction of acetylcholinesterase with isopropyl m-nitrophenyl methylphosphonate in the presence of fluoride ion. This alternative to the conventional pathway using neat and highly toxic isopropyl methylphosphonofluoridate (Sarin) offers the combined advantages of the ester's lower toxicity, ready preparation and purification, and convenience of storage and use.
