Modifications to TOODY for Lethality Calculations.

Abstract

Provisions for predicting time-dependent failure and for modeling composite materials are incorporated into the TOODY two- dimensional stress wave propagation computer program. The four failure criteria are based on the history of a single scalar stress. The composite material model accounts for unequal heating of material components and treats three phases, solid-liquid, vapor and a mixed phase in which only part of the material is vaporized. Test calculations are included for the purpose of checking the models and the coding. The resulting code provides a capability to perform significant lethality studies for configurations for which one-dimensional approximations are unsatisfactory. (Author-PL)
