Diagnostic Technique and Equipment Analysis on Three Typical Military Engine Generator Sets.

Abstract

Three typical military engine generator sets were investigated to determine general diagnostic criteria and malfunction diagnostic rationale which is appropriate for use on the main generator, generator set control systems and the electro-hydraulic governor. Considerations were made for practical test points, transducers, degree of automation and loading. Specific features of present diagnostic systems (ATE/ICE, MAIDE, MIS, BITE, etc.) were kept in mind throughout the program in order to insure compatibility between generator diagnostic systems and engine diagnostic systems.
