Development of Sea-Ice Strain Transducer.

Abstract

The development program for a sea-ice strain transducer is described, starting with a set of general criteria. Four different transducers were designed, fabricated, and tested to evaluate their mechanical and electrical integrity, applicability to ice testing, and ease of fabrication. Other commercially-available embedment gages were discussed as possible future generations of sea-ice strain transducers. (Modified author abstract)
