Effect of Cyclic Transformation Treatments on the Structure and Mechanical Properties of Steels.

Abstract

The study was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of cyclic treatments on strengthening 4340, H-4 and L-2 steels. The experimental results obtained show that hardness, yield and ultimate tensile strengths increase with transformation cycling. Ductility was found to be effected slightly while fracture toughness parameters such as impact and slow bend energy and K sub Ic showed no degradation due to cycling.
