Streptomycin Aerosol for Calves with Lung Disease,

Abstract

The authors were unable to find any literature data on content of streptomycin in the blood of calves, introduced by endotracheal and aerosol means. In view of this fact it was decided to make a study of this problem. The studies were carried out in January-June of 1969 on 18 clinically healthy calves of the Red Steppe breed in ages from 11/2 to 6 months. Streptomycin sulfate and dihydrostreptomycin sulfate were used. After the mucous trachea was anesthesized with 4 ml of a 2% novacain solution the endotracheal injections were made according to a widely used method.
